General information

Following is some general information regarding Czech traffic rules and regulations; we encourage you to familiarize yourself with these basics that are very relevant:

  • If not stated otherwise, the speed limitations are: 130 km/h on a highway or motorway, 90 km/h on normal roads, 50 km/h when driving in a town or village.
  • Alcohol tolerance is ZERO, which means even a small quantity of alcohol before driving is forbidden – our advice is don’t drink and drive in the Czech Republic.
  • You must always have your headlights switched on, it is the law!
  • As in many other countries, there is some mandatory equipment that you must have in your car at all times: first aid kit, reflective vest, emergency car warning triangle, spare tyre or tyre repair kit.
